Spring is already here and most of us already dream at summer warm days so I will take you today through my last adventure in Nordic cold lands. First stop: Lemvig, West coast city.
Is funny how we sometimes take random decisions and these become part of our best memories! This is how I actually arrived in Lemvig, after a friend told me about a crab festival (which actually explains the cute crab muffins). To make it clear, since then I never even saw a crab… never even thought eating a crab! So yes, basically that’s me: saying “yes, sure I will come” for something I have no idea about hahaha. I am not telling you to take all decisions this way, but what I mean is… I really enjoyed that first crab and luckily they had also other types of food (plus a lot of try-for-free stands).
Sweets were not strange thing for the festival and I sure did try some traditional dessert (and now my friends think “sure you did” because I just can’t help myself when I see delicacies).
Besides the food and good atmosphere of the festival, Lemvig is a nice place for a weekend escape as well. Its nature and house style reminds me of dwarfs homes and the port offers a beautiful view of the Nordic Sea.
Central part of the city hosts too some great cafeterias and pubs and shows part of Danish culture through its architecture and calmness.
Denmark’s strong point when it comes for tourism is for sure its geographic position of being surrounded by water. If is not a port or a sea, there is for sure a beautiful lake or river. For the second stop I choose Silkeborg exactly because of this reason! I have only been there for one day, but the autumn nature mixed so well with the river side that it stays in my mind even now!
I don’t really know if there is any story of mermaids around here, but in the park along the river there were some mermaid wood statues… good-looking, but could not really found what they represent. When I go to a new city I like to know its story and myths, but in this case they might be just for design.
I bet that Lemvig is a nice city to visit in summer too, especially if you enjoy having rides with boats or fishing. For me it was a short experience, but it came at the right moment. Also, if you are the type of person who likes to go somewhere surrounded by nature and just relax reading a book, is the right place to be!
Leaving the cold days behind, packing the winter clothes and putting on the sunglasses, I cannot wait to share with you more exotic places and summer destinations ! Till then, keep calm and travel on!
